 Tale of Sarah

Hair as black as night that felt of silk
adorned Sarah’s head.
It flowed down her back in
curls and waves.
So long was her hair
but yet, so thin.

Sarah was sitting on top of the rock
that over looked the sea.
Letting the wind twist and turn about her
thin and fragile frame.
Never changing, always constant
were her eyes
as they searched
over
over the sea.

The salty sea whipped and thrashed below
And gave no notice of the girl.
It howled and cried with no thought
of her above.

Alone,
but so beautiful was she.
With eyes like emeralds that
glittered and sparkled
even as she wept
but what they wept for
joy
sadness
no one knows.

The sun shone high above
in a cloudless sky
like a sapphire on Sarah’s light blue dress.
So hot was the sun,
it tinted her cheeks with
a burning red,
her skin was too fair
it would never turn a color.

Sarah waited on that rock
looking
looking over the sea.
Crying Crystals that
dropped
one
by one
to the waves below.

She waited all day on that rock
adding her soul
drop by
drop
to the sea below.

Day turned to night
and still she sat upon her rock
weeping,
as the waning moon kept a watchful eye.

Morning came and she was gone
from her tiny town.
The men said she jumped into the sea
for she gave her soul to Poseidon
where else would she go
with no soul.
The children say she got what she wished
but as to that wish
only she would know.
But the ladies all say, he came, her love
to take his beloved away.

Time moves and passes by,
for it was so long ago that Sarah,
sat over the sea.
But the rock is still there,
the sea still howls
and moon still watches,
as to the end of Sarah
no one really knows.
For time has passed her by
and all that is left
is a whisper of a tale so long ago.
