 Shattered Dreams - by Meghan

Once upon a time there was a girl, a girl with shattered dreams
Dreams of love, of happiness, of a family, but now what does it mean?
Her life was a big blur, with no path in it what so ever,
Raining, pouring, storming, like the changing weather.

Happiness is what she lusts for, happiness is all she needs,
But men and family shatter it, replace it with the sadness she leads.

She put on a smile, a frown turned upside down,
But underneath it all it’s just a frown flipped around.
Her happy face was a lie, can’t you all see it?
No one could see it, so one day she quit.

She quit pretending to be happy, and she quit trying to have fun,
A new life awaited her and it had just begun.
She went into her room, where she laid and sobbed,
Inside her heart bled and her head throbbed.

She walked to her mirror and looked at her reflection,
Which way’s fast and simple, was the question.
She walked to daddy’s closet where he kept his guns,
She searched hard and long until she found the one.

She walked back to her room, silently and slow,
This will make a mess and they’ll surely hear it blow.
So she laid it on her bed, and looked through out her room,
Something no one will hear, something that will kill her soon.

The girl walked to her phone and yanked the cord from the wall.
She grabbed a pen and paper, and scribbled on it I love you all.
She strung the cord from the light high up on her ceiling,
As she climbed up on a chair, her legs had no feeling.

She wrapped the cord tight around her neck,
As she watched herself in the mirror, looking like a wreck.
She kicked the chair from beneath her feet,
Now her maker, she will meet.
